Wildflower Outdoor Learning Center is a play-based preschool in Gladstone, OR, just outside of Portland. With a curriculum rooted in student-led exploration, the children spend most of the day outdoors year-round.

Partnering with this amazing school, we designed and continue to maintain a vibrant vegetable, herb, and flower garden at the heart of the schoolyard. Children are invited to join all garden projects, and learn new ways to experience the garden through our imaginative garden curriculum.

Building with cob, a combination of sand, clay, and straw, we created a natural built structure for the community to enjoy. Inspired by the children’s love of imaginative play, we also created a spiral cob play kitchen—complete with a rainwater-fed sink, a chanterelle-shaped rain funnel, a cozy bench, and a secret passageway. This project was completed by our team and the Wildflower Community!
